These interviews would gather rich information for the study and involved throbbing open ended, semi structured questions formulated in Chinese and English languages to cater for the diversity of the sample used (Wong & Ko, 2009 p197). The questions were translated from either English or Chinese and back to ensure no cultural or workplace bias was present. 24 individuals consisting of academia, HR professionals, master students in universities pursuing hospitality management, management staffs in hotels and hotel workers participated in the pilot study conducted in two phases.
